Free Insiders’ Guide Course for Parents and Carers
Do you have a child with severe learning needs, challenging behaviours or Autism? The Insider’s Guide is a free course that we have found parents have really valued, helping them build their long-term strength and find ways to get the best out of the people who work wit
The course starts on 5 June, and is on Wednesdays over five sessions, with time for a break and a cuppa. The first four sessions run from 10am to 1.30pm. The longer final session is on 3 July from 9.30am to 2.30pm.
This course is most useful to parents who have children with learning difficulties, challenging behaviours and/or Autism.
We will pay any additional childcare or travel expenses if this enables parents who would find difficulty to attend to take part as we believe this is such a valuable course.
Course modules:
Module 1: The Journey So Far – Finding out what we have in common
Module 2: Travelling On – Managing stress and building resilience
Module 3: Getting the Best out of Others – Handling tricky meetings and planning for success
Module 4: Understanding Challenging Behaviours – Thinking about different behaviours and what can trigger children kicking off
Module 5: Managing Challenging Behaviours – Exploring ways of positively dealing with the behaviours
Module 6: Looking Ahead – Reflecting on the course, what’s worth taking on the journey ahead
