Are you looking for a fulfilling role that will have a real impact on the lives of families with disabled children in Calderdale ?

Unique Ways is a local Parent Carer led charity supporting families with disabled children, helping them to lead ordinary lives. Our goal is to make sure that the voices of Parent Carers and their families are heard and that Parent Carers receive the support they need to build their resilience.  We aim to provide:-

Right support, right time, right place.

We provide a broad range of services for our Parent Carer Members,  from free training courses, workshops and focus groups to a range of specialist support from our team of practitioners. We don’t restrict our services based on whether the child/young person has a formal diagnosis or not, and instead work with anyone who feels they need our help.

We are a ‘Disability Confident’ employer and positions are open to successful candidates with the ability to complete tasks with or without reasonable accommodations.  We are seeking a team member who will share our values and be passionate in the belief of empowering potentially excluded people.  In return, we offer family friendly policies.

We can be flexible with start/finish times as long as there is a commitment to a regular working pattern.  The position will be based at our Halifax office (Hanson Lane Enterprise Centre), however, occasionally travel throughout the borough will be necessary.

Family Voice Calderdale (FVC) is a project of Unique Ways, it is the voice and influence arm of our charity.   FVC is the Parent Carer Forum for Calderdale and part of a wider network of Parent Carer Forums – National Network of Parent Carer Forums (NNPCF’s).

The Project Co-ordinator Role operationally delivers on all aspects of the work of the Forum, this includes:-

  • Directly responsible for implementing and co-ordinating the overall activity of the Family Voice Calderdale (FVC) project.
  • Directly responsible for implementing and co-ordinating the annual plan of FVC which includes the annual conference.
  • Directly responsible for providing secretariat support to the Steering Group (made up of up to 12 Parent Carer volunteers).

The role is directly line managed by the CEO of Unique Ways, however on a day to day basis the Co-ordinator will work very closely with the Chair of FVC, which is a volunteer role.

Overall purpose of role:

  • To achieve the best possible opportunities and future for all children and  young people with SEND and their families.
  • Create opportunities and manage co-production across the education, health and social care and the voluntary sector in Calderdale.  This means that Parent Carers themselves should be involved in all aspects of designing, commissioning, delivering and reviewing services as equal partners.
