Following the success of our coffee mornings, we’ve also introduced an afternoon tea for parent carers who can’t make our morning sessions – or who just want to drop by and see us more often! Finding the right chances to socialise and build a personal support network is something that we often see parent carers struggle with, and with these sessions we aim to provide that opportunity.
Our monthly afternoon tea is held at the Unique Ways offices at the Hanson Lane Enterprise Centre in Halifax on the third Wednesday of the month, from 12:30PM to 2PM. The sessions are led by our staff and volunteers, so they’re a great opportunity to bring along any questions you have – we’ll be more than happy to help!
But the most important attendees are the parent carers and children who come along to socialise, have a chat and a brew (cake is always available, of course!), and meet others with similar experiences to their own. Because the sessions are at Unique Ways HQ, kids can also make the most of our sensory toy library and play with others in a safe space where everyone understands their needs.
We find that our afternoon teas are the perfect introduction to Unique Ways and what we’re about – it’s a great opportunity to get to know our staff and volunteers in an informal environment, make friends, and build up a network of understanding, supportive people for you and your children.
Along with our coffee mornings, which run on the first Tuesday of the month, these sessions have been lifelines for some of our members – just take a look at our success stories to find out more. There’s no need to book or pay – just show up and say hi.
Please note that the date and time of these meetings can occasionally change, particularly in the school holidays – you can check when the next afternoon tea is happening on our events page. If you have any other questions, please feel free to give us a call on 01422 343090 – or drop Sunny an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
